Lomi Lomi Nui Massage Courses

The workshops are open for everyone, regardless of their previous experience with any massage or bodywork. For those who on the other hand are already familiar with Hawaiian massage, the retreat would be the opportunity for strengthening their practice and exploring new insights.
You will accomplish the 5-day Kino Mana Level I or II course in accordance with Aloha International standards. The diploma entitles you to give the massage professionally and to continue the studies up to the Teachers Level – Kino Mana Level V (with a Hawaiian master).

Workshops are run in small groups of 2-4 people. Prepare yourself for both wonderful and intensive time. To connect with nature and the elements, as the indigenous people of Hawaii did, we will spend much time outside at the high energy places of Gozo. The vegetarian, light meals include fresh products of an outstanding taste and flavor, the Mediterranean islands are famous from.

MORE ABOUT LOMI WORKSHOP

The master healers of old Hawaii knew that there were special ways to release the powers of the body so that physical, emotional, and mental healing would take place more quickly and completely. Now you can learn the healing skills from three ancient Hawaiian traditions brought together in a single course to benefit beginners and expert practitioners alike.

LOMI LOMI NUI

Also known as the “temple-style” Lomi, this graceful, in-depth bodywork incorporates hula movements to produce a profound healing effect for the recipient, at the same time energizing the practitioner. In ancient times in Hawaii, it was performed by Kahuna Lapa’au (master Lomi practitioners) in the Heiau (temples) for deep physical and spiritual healing.

Health (ola) existed when the body’s cells vibrated at a fast pace or in other words, the body’s energy was free-flowing. Illness (ma’i) occurs when that flow was blocked or restricted for an extended period. In this style of Lomi-Lomi (massage), the practitioner is the dancer and the recipient is the choreographer. So the dance is always different. The foundation strokes are taught as a framework, then the principles of attentiveness, love, and respect are emphasized so that the practitioner develops the confidence to trust information coming from the recipient.

Also emphasized is listening to one’s own body as a map for understanding how bodies release blocks. Hence, much of our training time together includes exercises that encourage our own bodies’ energy to flow freely. So get ready to help yourself as we increase our skills to help others!

KAHI LOA

Virtually unknown outside of Hawaii, this healing system combines a light touch with mental focus and feedback for amazingly fast and deep results. Kahi Loa came from the healing traditions of the Kahili family that taught Serge King. Serge taught it to us as a compliment to the Lomi Lomi Nui because of its flexibility and adaptability. The elements of Nature work with the practitioner and receiver to remind us of our interconnectedness and mutual love. Kahi Loa doesn’t use oil so it can be done in more situations, even without a table. It can be done as a complete session or any portion, and still be very effective!

HULA | Hawaiian Dance

Hula, or Hawaiian dance, is also a powerful way of tapping into spiritual healing energy, and thus is an integral part of certain types of Hawaiian massage. As Hula is learned and practiced, it is accomplishing the strengthening of valuable skills such as focus, relaxation, deep breathing, presence, non-judgment, and flexibility, and all the while we have fun! Through the Hula, we are also learning some history, culture, and values of the Hawaiian people.

LOCATION

Gozo is a tiny island separated from Malta by a 30 min cruise by ferry. It is known for its slow paced life, spectacular views, stunning cliffs, clean environment and tasty local food. It takes only about 30 min to get from one corner of the island to the other one. Basically wherever you look, you will see the sea. Gozo was chosen by Angelina Jolie to shoot the famous movie „By the sea”. The island is on a „must visit” list of many explorers of the ancient life because the remains of the buildings date back to 4000 BC which make them even older than Egyptian pyramids.
